I’m testing the waters here and trying my hand at a makeup blog post so you’ll have to let me know what you all think, okay, m’dears? 💁🏻
When it comes to the world of makeup, I’m a bit of a low budget actress – you can tell I sort of know what I’m doing but it’s mostly just experimenting with a little money and trying not to be noticed for all the wrong reasons!
Everyone has to start somewhere though and with my skin playing paint-by-numbers with all its different tones at the moment, I thought now would be a good time to look into bases and foundations.
So, this takes me to the closest Debenhams department store, where, after a little quiz on Teen Vogue (which you can do here) I decided to try the Clinique booth. I knew I wanted full coverage to hide the redness and scars from when my teen-self thought the best way to get rid of spots was to scratch then off 🙄 (kids, if you’re reading this, scratching your face will make it 10 times worse and you’ll soon go back to wishing it was just a spot!)
As the quiz suggested, the sales advisor recommended I tried The Redness Solutions Makeup in ‘Fair 02’ with The Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base (both SPF 15)
I get my make up done at 4pm, although I think it’s dewy, it’s really good coverage. I’m told it looks ‘bright’ as I go through heavy rain to get back to the car.
By the time we get back to the car, it’s 4.30pm. In the car, I’m looking in the mirror, worried that my face is a bit pink and shiny. We stick to the ‘bright’ comment while I try to get a picture of my face that doesn’t reflect the flash.
From 6pm, I’m getting lots of compliments from the about how clear and natural my face looks. The natural lighting in the conservatory makes my skin looks good too, I have to admit!
At 9pm I’m having my show so I have to wash this stuff off but I’ve been pretty impressed by how well it has lasted throughout the wind and rain of the day! My skin looks really smooth and clear and it’s not at all patchy which is one of the problems I had in the first place.
It’s been a couple months now since I started using this foundation and I still completely love it. It even appears to have sorted out the oiliness of my skin! My only complaint, however, is how small the bottle is when you buy it. The sales people will try and justify it by saying you don’t need to use as much as you would a cheaper foundation but I still use the same amount as I did before to be honest… I know it’s a branded thing but for the price, you would have thought you would get a bit more for your money.
That’s it for tonight anyway!
Let me know what you think! It was harder to write than I thought haha.
